Machu Picchu
Aguas Calientes

Aguas Calientes is five hours by train from Cuzco. The railroad tracks are mainly the only street here. The sun sets very early, around two o'clock, because of the high mountains that surround the entire village.

Although Aguas Calientes is an unremarkable town, there are various high quality restaurants and hotels there that are supported by travelers. Also, nice hikes and beautiful birds and butterflies embellish the place.

I'ts also the train from from Cuzco's final stop. It's recommended that you stay one night at Aguas Calientes in order to avoid crowds at Machu Picchu. Next you can take the bus to Machu Picchu before the first train arrives in the morning.
